IAFL Family Law Conference – Paris 2024
In December 2024, a family law conference was held in Paris organized by the International Academy of Family Law Lawyers (IAFL) and International association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).
At this conference, as the only participants from the Republic of Serbia, our lawyers appeared, Damjana Pavleski and Aleksandar Pavleski.
The conference brought together over 100 family lawyers from a large number of European countries. This was another opportunity for our lawyers to talk with lawyers with whom they already cooperate on international family cases.
The topics covered at this conference were:
- Divorce by agreement, with a special focus on how effective the parents’ agreement is when it comes to moving to another country of one parent with a child and the issue of alimony
- Enforcement of court decisions regarding child custody and alimony
- Relocation with the parent and illegally taking the child across the border
What is still the general impression about Serbian family law is that court proceedings take a very long time (when compared to most other countries), as well as that judges often do not know and do not know how to fully apply the regulations related to family disputes with international element.
